House Calls

Sometimes we come to you.

House calls for patients in Sea Point and surrounding areas who need a doctor at home — at the doctor's discretion, where clinically warranted.

Getting to a practice when you are seriously unwell, frail, or recovering from a procedure is not always possible — and it should not be a barrier to good care. MyFamilyGP offers house calls for patients in Sea Point and surrounding areas who need a doctor at home.

House calls work best for assessment and decision-making — helping you understand what is happening, what can be managed at home, and when it is time to escalate. They are not a substitute for emergency care.

How house calls work at MyFamilyGP.

  • Doctor's discretion. House calls are offered at the discretion of the doctor, where clinically warranted. We will discuss your situation with you and confirm whether a home visit is the right next step.
  • Different rate. House calls are charged at a different rate than a standard consultation — see our Fees page.
  • Booked 24+ hours in advance. Home visits require at least 24 hours' notice so we can coordinate around the practice schedule. They are not an emergency or same-day service.

When a house call makes sense.

Go straight to the emergency room if:

Severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, uncontrolled bleeding, collapse, or major trauma. For these, call 10177 or 021 480 6111 (Netcare emergency) rather than waiting for a house call.

Request a house call.

Call 021 439 6060 or email info@myfamily.gp at least 24 hours in advance to arrange a visit.
