Practice Owner & Founding Partner

MBChB (University of Cape Town, 2003) · GP in Sea Point since 2014 · Resident Doctor, Highlands House aged care facility

If you have lived in Sea Point for a while, there is a reasonable chance you already know Orit. She has been a doctor in this community since 2014 — over a decade of building the kind of relationships that make general practice actually work. She remembers that you had a difficult year. She notices when you seem quieter than usual. She knows which treatments you have tried and which you have not.

Orit trained at UCT and built her clinical skills in some of South Africa's most demanding environments: Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit, Paarl General Hospital, and the Robbie Nurock Community Health Centre in Cape Town. Each placed her in situations requiring thoroughness, resourcefulness, and the ability to make good decisions without perfect information — exactly the skills that make a GP trustworthy.

Orit has a particular and growing focus on geriatric care, and has taken over complex patient management from Dr Leon Geffen. She is one of the Resident Doctors at Highlands House, an aged care facility in Cape Town, alongside her work at MyFamilyGP. She is skilled at administering cognitive testing in older adults using validated tools such as the MOCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment), and offers dedicated appointments for cognition assessment and review.

She also has depth in pediatrics and dermatology — which means that whether you are bringing in your child, an elderly parent with complex medication, or a skin concern that hasn't been properly diagnosed, Orit brings focused, expertise-level thinking to what is often treated as ordinary general practice.

Clinical interests.

  • Family medicine across all ages and life stages
  • Geriatric medicine and older-adult care — including frailty, polypharmacy, and complex patient management
  • Cognitive assessment in older adults using MOCA and other validated tools, with dedicated cognition appointments available
  • Pediatric care — newborns through adolescence, with warmth and patience
  • Dermatology — diagnosis and treatment, not just referral
  • Chronic disease management — diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, asthma
  • Women's health, including contraception, perimenopause, and hormonal management

A word from Orit.

"What I love about general practice is that you get to follow people over time. You see someone through a difficult diagnosis, then a year later you are celebrating with them at their child's milestone. The best care I can give is the kind that builds on knowing you — not starting from scratch every time. That is why continuity matters so much to me, and why I have stayed in Sea Point."

When she is not in the practice, Orit swims, reads voraciously, and dances Flamenco — something she has pursued with more dedication than she might admit.
