The consent we ask for from every patient — and what it means in practice.
When you register with MyFamilyGP, we ask you to read and sign a patient consent form. This is a standard requirement in South African private practice and exists to make sure you understand and agree to how we deliver care and manage your information.
You may withdraw consent for non-essential aspects of our processing at any time by writing to info@myfamily.gp. Withdrawing consent for elements essential to your clinical care or our legal record-keeping obligations may affect our ability to continue treating you, and we will explain this fully if it arises.
For patients under the age of 18, consent is obtained from a parent or legal guardian, except in those areas where South African law allows minors to consent on their own behalf (e.g. contraception and certain sexual health services for those 12 and older). We will always explain what is happening and why.
