Fees & Billing

Transparent, upfront, no surprises.

We want you to know what to expect before you book. Below is how billing works at MyFamilyGP, along with our most commonly requested consultation and service fees.

How we bill.

MyFamilyGP is a private cash practice. Payment is required at the time of your consultation. After your visit, we provide a fully coded tax invoice, including ICD-10 diagnosis codes and procedure codes, which you can submit to your medical aid for reimbursement.

We do not bill medical aids directly. The amount you are reimbursed depends on your specific medical aid plan and benefits. See our Cash Practice Notice and Medical Aid Notice for full detail.

Pathology, blood work and similar clinical lab services are not provided by MyFamilyGP. These are handled by external pathology providers (sometimes located in the same building) and billed by them at fees they determine, separate from our consultation fees.

Consultation fees.

Scripts, reports & admin

Important about scripts, reports, and admin.

  • You must have been seen by a MyFamilyGP doctor in the previous 6 months to be eligible for a script, repeat, or report without a fresh consultation. Outside that window we will need to book an appointment.
  • Scripts, reports, and other admin services are not a same-day service. They are subject to a reasonable waiting period — typically 2–5 working days. We will give you a realistic turnaround time when you request the service.
ServiceFee
Prescription / script (without consultation) For established patients seen by a MyFamilyGP doctor in the previous 6 months. R270
Medical reports / special motivations Written motivations for procedures, reports, and related documentation. Fee varies with complexity. R300 – R500

Common questions.

Do you accept medical aid?

We do not bill medical aids directly. You pay us at the time of your visit and we provide a detailed, fully coded invoice for you to submit to your scheme. Reimbursement depends on your plan and benefits. See our Medical Aid Notice.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit and credit card payments, EFT, and cash. For virtual consultations, a secure payment link can be provided.

Are there additional costs beyond the consultation fee?

Yes — pathology (billed by an external lab), medications, and materials are charged separately. We will always inform you of any additional costs before they are incurred.

What happens if I need to cancel?

We ask for as much notice as possible. Late cancellations (less than two hours before your appointment) may incur a fee, applied at the practice's discretion. See our No-Show Policy.

Who do I contact about an account or invoice query?

Email info@myfamily.gp or call 021 439 6060. Account queries are handled by Paige Holmes, our administrator for accounts.
